Release tour cd Bluebeard

Saxofonist en componist Yuri Honing behoort al jaren tot één van de vaandeldragers van de hedendaagse vaderlandse jazz. Daarvoor ontving hij in 2012 de prestigieuze Boy Edgar Prijs en maar liefst drie Edisons.

Dat Honings muzikale capaciteiten ook buiten de landsgrenzen weerklank vinden, blijkt uit zijn samenwerking met erkende jazzgrootheden als Pat Metheney, Paul Bley en Charlie Haden en een speellijst die hem over podia over de gehele wereld bracht.

Bluebeard is de opvolger van Goldbrun, en is gewijd aan de Franse koopman Bluebeard, een berucht manspersoon uit een sprookje in het Europa van de zeventiende eeuw. Het album levert prachtige, donkere nummers die traag voortbewegen en je meeslepen in het typische geluid van het Yuri Honing Quartet. Laat je verleiden door Honing en zijn akoestische kwartet en treed binnen in het mysterieuze klanklandschap van de iconische Blauwbaard.

For many years now saxophonist and composer Yuri Honing has been one of the standard bearers of modern jazz in the Netherlands. That ’s why he was presented with the prestigious Boy Edgar Jazz Award in 2012 and he received no less than 3 Edison awards.
Honing’s musical talent is also highly esteemed and appreciated abroad. This is borne out by the fact that over the years many world famous jazz celebrities like Pat Metheney, Paul Bley and Charlie Haden have played with him and he has been invited to play at jazz venues throughout the world.

Honing’s new CD Bluebeard is about the French merchant Bluebeard, a notorious character from a fairy tale that is set in seventeetn century Europe . The album features magnificent, dark compositions that move slowly and carry you along through the sound characteristic of the Yuri Honing Quartet.
